Description

Focusing on the therapy and rehabilitation strategies which are complementary to those traditionally offered by a veterinarian, this programme will equip students to evaluate, design and administer a range of treatments. Throughout this programme you will gain an understanding of equine physiology and anatomy and, by the end of the three years, be equipped to either enter postgraduate study or progress into this emerging field as a self-employed practitioner.

The programme, which has been designed with the help of industry experts, makes full use of brand new facilities and is suitable for people who, whilst they have an interest in horses, may not be current active riders.

The aims of the programme are:

  • To develop your knowledge and understanding of a range of equine therapy and rehabilitation methods as they relate to equestrian sports. There is a particular emphasis on development of practical and analysis skills for enhancement and maintenance of general health and welfare following injury
  • To develop personal managerial skills in all subject areas as well as critical analysis and research skills
  • To build on and enhance your ability to locate, collect and analyse data from a range of sources as well as the selection of appropriate therapies following examination and diagnosis.
