This programme will give you the ability to understand and evaluate key conceptual debates in politics and the role of cross-national and comparative perspectives. You will also be encouraged to explore in considerable detail contemporary debates in the study of both European and international politics and to focus on the link between different modes and levels of governance.

You will have the opportunity to deepen your knowledge of theoretical aspects of politics including different theories of international relations, European integration and international politics. You will also be able to further your understanding of at least two areas of European politics and two areas of international politics.

The programme will also provide you with the skills necessary to design and complete a dissertation on a specialist topic, including formulating research questions, selecting appropriate methods of data collection and analysis, conducting a literature review and presenting research according to scholarly conventions.

It provides intellectual training relevant to careers in national, European and international governance, the media, business or other fields.
