Description

Qualified students may also enhance their academic experience and career qualifications with participation in the GIScCE Center of Excellence Scholars Program. The program is both an academic and a professional curriculum designed to enable SDSU students to achieve educational and research experiences that uniquely qualify them for a career in GISc/Remote Sensing.

The Department of Geography provides course work leading to the Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and the Bachelor of Science degree in Geographic Information Sciences. In addition to the standard degree programs, there are presently two options available in the Geography Major:
  • Technical Geography-Science Option
  • Environmental Planning and Management Option
The Technical Geography-Science Option stresses research techniques and is oriented toward future employment in governmental, industrial, military, or planning positions. The Environmental Planning and Management Option is designed to prepare students for careers in governmental, industrial, managerial, recreational areas, and commercial corporations.

Requirements

  • Applicants should have an above average academic record at least equivalent to a "B-" average (2.60 out of 4.00), or be in the top 60% of their class with suitable academic preparation for the intended major.
  • The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test), while not required, is encouraged and strongly recommended for freshman applicants. Students who graduated from U.S. high schools must submit an SAT score.
  • Academic Transcripts need to be originals or official certified true copies. If your transcripts are not in English, certified true translations must be attached. All upper secondary school-level work need to be demonstrated through your transcripts. It is common for applicants to submit transcripts prior to completion of their final year of secondary school. If you must submit transcripts prior to completion, please indicate your expected graduation date.
