The constantly growing trend of globalisation dominates everyday work in most German companies, regardless of size (small, medium or large enterprises), type of business (e.g. banking, IT or automotive), ownership structure or regional location in Germany.

This increasingly complex and international interconnection in the modern business environment brings to the fore the significance of two markets which form the backbone of the Global Management Master's programme:
Sales market: Foreign countries are becoming more important to German companies as sales markets for their products, as they require corresponding competencies in market entry strategies (export strategy, joint venture, acquisition) and market development strategies (e.g. adapted marketing for foreign customers).
Resourcing market: Foreign countries are capturing more and more attention as a resourcing market, as they transform from merely supplying raw materials to also providing semi-finished products, financing, and highly qualified human capital that competes with the German labour force. A company thus has to develop and implement efficient sourcing strategies (e.g. standardised opportunity-risk assessment for make-or-buy decisions), international supply chains, and an international production strategy.
In addition, employees striving for management positions in areas such as international trade or international production need to acquire specific knowledge and skills.

Alongside these core competencies, institutional and fiscal framework conditions for international trade (e.g. economic systems and policies of selected regions, international finance and banking) are further focal points in this Master's programme.
Moreover, collaboration with foreign cultures demands highly developed soft skills. Intercultural competence and negotiation skills become key success factors for profit or loss in German-international joint ventures, regardless of the quality of their products, services or quotations.
