The Health and Social Care programme enables you to develop the ability to critically analyse and evaluate complex health and social care issues. Contemporary practice is explored to encourage creativity and innovation in the workplace.

The programme is suitable for students from a wide range of health and social care settings. The shared learning with other pathways and programmes provides the opportunity for interprofessional and inter-agency networking, with the potential to learn from one another whilst exchanging knowledge and experience.

Specialist Practice Programme ( NMC award ) In addition to the general Health and Social Care programme, Specialist Practice programmes are available as follows:
Community Childrens Nursing
District Nursing
General Practice Nursing

As a Specialist Practice student you will be allocated a practice teacher (PT) by your sponsoring Primary Care Trust and you will also receive visits to your practice area by the specialist tutor.

Compulsory modules include:

* Health and Social Care
* Clinical Decision Making
* Assessment Module
* Research for Practice
* Leadership and Management (Specialist Practice only)

Optional modules vary according to your area of practice / specialist interest.

Applicants will normally be graduates with a relevant professional qualification and be working in the area of health or social care studied as their speciality. All candidates must demonstrate a critical companion/mentor in practice and are invited to attend interview. Non-graduates must demonstrate potential to achieve at postgraduate level and should submit an entrance essay.If your first language is not English, we will require some evidence of your proficiency in the English language. Applicants must be able to demonstrate an ability to understand and express themselves in both written and spoken English. You may be required to take an approved proficiency test examination and/or attend a course of English language study before admission.The following qualifications/tests are suitable as evidence that you meet our minimum level of competence: * Cambridge Proficiency Examination (Grade C) * GCSE/GCE Ordinary Level in English (Grade C) * International English Language Testing System (IELTS) (Band 6) * NEAB Test in English * Test in English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) (score of 550 on the paper-based test or 213 on the computer-based test) * AEB Test in English for Educational Purposes (Grade III) English Language Requirements CAE score: (read more) Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) is part of the Cambridge English suite and is targeted at a high level (IETLS 6.5-8.0).
