The curriculum includes courses exploring human history from numerous places and perspectives with special offerings in Asian history, Latin American history, gender studies, and American Indian history.Students enjoy exceptionally close interaction with faculty. Our largest course is capped at 60 students; many upper-division courses are limited to between 15 and 25 students.

Students may investigate both the items in this collection and the process of maintaining a professional historical archive.

Course Content
The history curriculum is designed to introduce students to the study of the human past. Students majoring in history learn to approach decision-making with an awareness of a broad range of choices, learn to think critically and communicate their ideas effectively, learn to integrate their academic study with their intellectual and ethical development, and understand the construction of historical knowledge. The curriculum emphasizes the role of the student as an active learner and encourages individualized learning experiences, including those outside of established coursework, and the development of close working relationships between students and faculty.

Academic Requirements
To apply, your high school transcript should include the following:
- Four (4) years of English;
- Four (4) years of math including one year each of elementary algebra, intermediate algebra, and geometry;
- Three (3) years of science with one year each of biological and physical science;
- Three (3) years of social studies, including United States history;*
- Two (2) years of a single second language.*
*Applicants missing this requirement will not be denied admission if they are otherwise admissible.
