Industrial Design

On the Bachelor’s programme in Industrial Design at the University of Twente, you will learn to design and improve products by drawing on technical insight, creativity and a keen awareness of consumer behaviour. In this context, we not only mean products that are both functional and attractive, but also products that are affordable to make, easy to use, convenient to package and efficient to transport. What sets this programme apart from the rest is its clear focus on the future. You will gain a solid grasp of the entire design process, from ideation to market launch. Along the way, you will acquire fundamental scientific knowledge that allows you to strike a creative balance between the realms of technological potential, market forces and consumer trends. In the process you will become an enterprising designer. Design-oriented project work is another defining characteristic of this programme. You will work on actual assignments commissioned by our industrial partners. Working in a close-knit team, you will develop a prototype and present it to the client. Many products developed by our students in this way have gone on to become commercial successes.
