Description

The Department aims to educate students for professional practice within the fields of information technologies by providing strong conceptual foundations (theoretical and practical), and also expose them to the forefront of the developments in the field of information technologies by offering courses that promote creative discovery, foster teamwork and leadership and prepare students for lifelong learning and to be a source of information technologies expertise to the country and region.

Vision

Our vision is to be recognized as the premier Information Technology department in the region, known for its innovation, leadership and commitment in delivering high-quality, industry-responsive, technically relevant education, research and services to help fulfill the needs of the country and beyond.

The Information Technologies Program (IT) is designed for those who are planning careers in the areas of analysis, design and the practice of information systems technologies in the public and private sectors. With the rise of information technologies practices in industry, job opportunities for graduates keep rising. Those who are interested in management and computing are ideal candidates for this department.

In our current era, the categorization and utilization of information is more and more important. In order to reach this aim, two aspects of the IT program are computer programming and the use of prepared programs, with the third aspect being management. This program can be thought of as a software engineering program paired with management knowledge.

Our aim is that our students will learn IT concepts, follow developments in the sector independently and develop skills to solve problems using their knowledge.
From their 3rd year on, our students are free to choose from a wide range of electives in the area in which they want to specialize.

Job opportunities

In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of jobs connected with IT. IT is becoming a dominant component of work in nearly all production and service sectors, health services, tourism, banking, finance and all ranges of managements. This development constantly creates job opportunities for our graduates. Our graduates have the chance to work in a wide range of places such as computer network management, system analysis and design, e-trade, data systems, web design and management, software developing, and consultancy.
