Description

The information technology management program prepares students for technical and management positions in business and industry. Graduates have the knowledge, experience, and skills to succeed in technology related careers as well as the business and management competencies for mid-management positions such as information technology specialists, application developers, network administrators, Webmasters, technology project and information systems managers. Many opportunities exist for Information Technology Management (ITM) students to work on a variety of technology-based projects for almost any department on campus to gain valuable work experience.

Academic initiatives with technology companies like Microsoft provide access to industry leading software free of charge and the chance to work with that software directly.

Course Content

Program outcomes - graduates will:

  • demonstrate abilities in the use of information systems hardware, operating systems, programming languages, and application software
  • use computer technology in preparing programs, presentations, and written reports
  • demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and oral communications through technical reports, solutions to information technology problems, and feasibility studies
  • demonstrate human relations and career/life adaptability skills in problem solving, decision making, and responding to change
  • demonstrate an environmental perspective in the development of solutions for business and information technology problem solving
  • demonstrate global and ethical perspectives in information technology management
  • demonstrate an understanding of the role of finance, marketing, and management as job responsibilities of the information technology professional

Requirements

Apply to University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) as a freshman if you have earned or attempted fewer than 24 semester or 36 quarter college credits after high school graduation. All prospective students are encouraged to apply for admission. Students who have not been granted a standard high school diploma must pass the GED test before they are admitted as a regular student.

  • Submit a $30 non-refundable application fee
  • Submit official high school transcripts
  • Submit ACT or SAT test scores (UMC ACT code 2129)
  • Submit official college transcripts for all college credits attempted or earned
