The scientific core of this Master's programme is our research institute "Industrial IT - inIT" (http://www.init-owl.de) in Lemgo. Approx. 60 members carry out research in the fields of industrial informatics and industrial automation. inIT is situated within one of the most important clusters of machine engineering and industrial electronics in Germany.
Due to the strong integration of scientific research into this Master's programme, students can profit from interesting and challenging subjects for student jobs and for the Master's thesis.
The inIT institute is located in the modern facilities of the science-to-business centre CIIT (http://www.ciit-owl.de/index.php?page=english). It is a principal research member of the German leading-edge cluster "Intelligent Technical Systems - it's OWL" (http://www.its-owl.de/en/home/).

On campus, Master Information Technology students also benefit from the SmartFactoryOWL, an initiative between Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences (OWL-UAS) and the Fraunhofer Society (http://www.smartfactory-owl.de/index.php/en/).

Job opportunities

The primary purpose of your stay is to study. In Germany, your residence permit is not a work permit. Nonetheless, limited kinds of employment are possible. As a registered student at Ostwestfalen-Lippe University in Lemgo, the work permit regulation (in German "Arbeitserlaubnisverordnung", in short "AEVO") § 9 No. 7 allows you to work for up to 120 full or 240 half days a year without an additional work permit. You may work when the university is in session as well as during semester breaks. Only those days on which work is carried out are considered.
Traditional jobs of an academic character such as student tutoring can be carried out in addition to the above-mentioned 120 full/240 half days. Such jobs are not subject to time restrictions.
