Educational organisation

Structure:
First semester: Hochschule Mainz (September - January)
Second semester: LSBU (February - June)
During the second semester, students can choose between two pathways:
  • General pathway
  • Finance pathway
Third semester: Master's thesis period (July - December)

Study abroad unit(s)

MSc IB participants spend the second semester of the programme at the partner institution LSBU.

Internships

Students can write their Master's thesis during in-company internships.

Course objectives

The aim of this postgraduate course is to allow participants to study the complex, changing, multifaceted character of international business in the modern world both critically and analytically, as well as investigate problems, issues and the context in which international business operates.This is achieved by examining both academic theories and conducting real life case studies, as well as undertaking individual research. The course aims to impart a high level of knowledge, analytical abilities and critical understanding of international business, as well as providing students with the necessary skills and tools to make decisions within an international environment. Having successfully completed required coursework as well as the Master's thesis, students will be awarded a Master of Science in International Business from the LSBU.

Language requirements

Applicants must have an excellent command (C1 within the Common European Framework) of English, both written and spoken. This must be proven by a language qualification such as an IELTS overall score of 6.5 or a TOEFL IBT overall score of 90.

Academic requirements

Bachelor's degree in Management or Business Studies with above-average marks (ECTS mark C+ or better). Excellent English skills (min. C1).

The MSc IB is a full-time programme. Nevertheless, the LSBU career centre helps students to find a job that fits into their schedule.

Services and support for international students

The MSc IB Programme Manager of Hochschule Mainz will support you in obtaining a visa and in finding accommodation in Mainz. During the semester, the Programme Manager will be your contact person for all organisational matters that may arise.

Accommodation

Students can live in student halls of residence both in Mainz and in London. Accommodation is available through the Student Services Office. Rent for a single room in a student residence in Mainz is approx. 300 EUR per month.
