The MSc programme International Economics and Management prepares students for executive positions in international companies or for research and advisory activities in national and supranational institutions. The programme's specific focus lies on the globalisation and increasing internationalisation of economies and firms, their strategies to gain competitive advantages, and their activities to successfully reach and sustain a leading position. The programme is designed to impart both theoretical and methodological knowledge on international firms, open economies, development, and globalisation. The programme is structured around core and elective modules. In addition, it offers a high degree of flexibility to enable students to tailor the programme to their individual interests. It is also regularly updated to take into account the latest research and issues in international management.
Detailed information about the modules can be found on the website of the study programme:

Educational organisation

International Economics and Management is a four-semester programme. Typically, the academic year begins in the winter semester, but it is also possible to begin in the summer semester. Three modules worth 10 ECTS credits each must be completed in each semester (ECTS = European Credit Transfer System, 1 ECTS credit is equivalent to around 30 hours' workload). Therefore, a total of 120 ECTS credits is needed to complete the programme. These include 20 ECTS credits for mandatory modules, 80 ECTS credits for elective modules, and 20 ECTS credits for the Master's thesis (for more details, see "Description of Content"). A study plan of modules is provided, but this can be adjusted if necessary. Usually, each module contains several individual teaching and learning units, including lectures, seminars, labs or individual research projects.

Forms of assessment

Oral or written examinations
Master's thesis (20 ECTS credits)

Accommodation

There are two types of student accommodation in Germany: dormitories located on or near the university campus and private accommodation in a flat or an apartment. In Germany, most of the apartments are usually unfurnished! To save money and to have more living space, students often set up an apartment-sharing community and live together. There are two dormitories on the Paderborn campus which are run and managed by the student services (Studentenwerk). Students can apply for a one-room apartment or a room with a communal kitchen and bathroom that are usually shared with one to three other students.
Please visit the homepage of the Studentenwerk (student services) directly: http://www.studentenwerk-pb.de/en/home/ or contact the International Office: https://www.uni-paderborn.de/en/studium/international-office/
Rental charges currently range from 250-340 EUR per room and month (private renting), including costs for electricity, gas, water, etc. If rooms are furnished, the landlord is likely to ask for a deposit, which is usually equivalent to two months' rent. This is returned to the student on departure if the room is left in a satisfactory state and all rent payments have been made.
