The programme is the first of its type in Scotland and is accredited by professional bodies in the UK and abroad, including the Chartered Institute for Personnel & Development (CIPD); The American Society for HRM (SHRM); and, the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), which means that your professional career is underpinned by the knowledge, understanding and capability that will see you firmly on an incredible career path.

All modules involve class based learning and tutor support. This includes the dissertation stage which is made up of an HRM Inquiry Project. Shorter than a traditional Masters dissertation, the HRM Inquiry Project involves structured industry visits.
You can start in either September or January.

Module Details
Personal and Professional Development
This module aims to develop individual mastery in personal and interpersonal effectiveness in order to support career entry and development, thereby enabling positive and professional organisational impacts
Diversity and Cross Cultural Management
This module aims to develop insights into key elements of culture at individual, national and organisational levels. The purpose is to support cross-cultural capability and inculcate a global mindset by stimulating self-awareness and widening frames of reference, because cross-cultural sensitivity and literacy is core to the MSc in International HRM programme.
International and Comparative HR Strategies
The aim of this module is to develop critical insights into the theoretical underpinnings and practical implications of human resource strategies in organisations which operate internationally and in different countries. The module explores and evaluates key dimensions in formulating and implementing HR strategies in large, transnational and multi-national organisations
Managing and Developing Human Resources
This module critically examines selected contemporary theory and practice by investigating local, national and international issues in human resource management (HRM) and human resource development (HRD).
HRM in Organisational Contexts
The aim of the module is to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to interpret and analyse environment(s) in which their organisations operate. This is done by critically examining internal and external environments in global and national contexts.
Resourcing and Talent Management
This module develops critical understanding of resourcing and talent management issues to promote fair and effective decision making in key aspects of human resource management.
Performance Management
This module aims to explore how managers in organisations might optimise individual and collective performance to achieve strategic goals through effective performance management policies and procedures. It also develops skills in the interpretation of financial information to determine organisational performance
Change and Leadership
Essential to organisations today, this module develops a critical appreciation of organisational change and its leadership implications and demands. In doing so, this module considers multiple perspectives of change and leadership ranging from traditional to emerging alternatives.
Research Design and Critical Inquiry
The purpose of the module is to introduce students to research and consultancy approaches to critical inquiry in the areas of human resource management and business.
Human Resource Management Research Project
The Human Resource Management Research Project is an independent investigation of a substantial human resource management or employee relations issue or problem, which demonstrates a critical awareness of management practice, relevant theories and research techniques and approaches.
