The job of Laws centers on commercial law with emphasis on intellectual property law. Whilst the sole amount in Victoria on this particular specialisation, students know about trademarks, patents and designs, copyright, the prohibition of misleading or deceptive conduct and competition law. Students discover ways to protect the rights of those who innovate or make. Students complete law-related professional experience placements at businesses in Australia or overseas. Students are introduced to the practical areas of legal training throughout moot court scenarios along with advocacy exercises. The level equips students with the skills to function in commercial and general legal clinic and in a selection of businesses, including media and entertainment, designing, advertising and branding.

The Bachelor of Laws Suits the academic requirements for Entry to practice as an Attorney in the Australian and Victorian Federal legal systems According to the Victorian Legal Admissions Board. Please be informed that non-academic requirements must also be suited to entry to apply and that no law degree enables graduates to practise direct a way.

  • Year 12 or equivalent
  • VCE prerequisites: Units 3 and 4: the absolute minimum study score of 25 in English (or equivalent) or 30 in English (EAL). Additional performance criteria and prerequisite requirements can also apply. English language requirements - satisfactory completion of one of the following: Swinburne's English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 high level) with overall 70 percent, all skills 65 percent
  • Minimum IELTS overall band of 6.5 (Academic Module) with no single band below 6.0
  • TOEFL iBT (web-based ) minimum score of 79 with a studying ring no less than 18 and writing ring no less than 20
  • Pearson (PTE) minimum score of 5 8 (no real skills less than 50)
  • Any other equivalent assessment of English language proficiency. Note: A necessity for many classes, the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) can now be done online campus at Hawthorn.
