Course Content

Our degrees are divided into Stages. Each Stage lasts for an academic year and you need to complete modules totalling 120 credits by the end of each Stage.

Please be aware that programme modules do change and therefore may differ for your year of entry.

Stage 1

Work placement/study abroad (optional)

Between Stages 2 and 3 you may choose to undertake a paid work placement in a UK or European business. Alternatively you may spend the year studying at a partner university in Europe.

The Business School has a dedicated Placement Officer who can help you find a suitable work placement.

Companies that have previously hosted our students are wide-ranging and include: Heinz, Panasonic, IBM, Fujitsu, Danone, 3M, Nestlé, Hewlett-Packard, Reuters, Xerox, PwC (Kuala Lumpur), Adidas (Germany) and ‘Hola {Hello}’ (Madrid).

All candidates are considered on an individual basis. If your qualifications are not listed here, please see our additional entry requirements web pages to find out which other qualifications are considered.

- A Levels

AAB. Any subject combinations accepted excluding General Studies. GCSE Mathematics and English (minimum grade B) required if not taken at A or AS level.

- Scottish Qualifications

AAABB at Higher Grade. Mathematics and English required at grade 2 Standard Grade (or Intermediate 2 equivalent) if not offered at Higher Grade. Combinations of Highers and Advanced Highers accepted.

- International Baccalaureate

35 points. Standard Level Mathematics or Mathematical Studies required at grade 5 if not offered at Higher Level.

- Irish Leaving Certificate

A1A1A1B1B at Higher level, normally including Mathematics.

- Access Qualifications

Level 3 units in Mathematics or Quantitative Methods and Marketing are essential. At least 30 level 3 credits at Distinction and in addition at least 15 level 3 credits at a minimum of Merit.

- BTEC Level 5 HND

In a relevant subject to include at least 90 credits at Merit grade and 90 credits at Distinction grade. GCSE Mathematics and English (minimum grade B) required.

- BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma (formerly BTEC National Diploma)

Overall DDD. Business-related subjects preferred. GCSE Mathematics and English (minimum grade B) required.

- Cambridge Pre-U

D3,D3,M2 in Principal Subjects. GCSE Mathematics and English (minimum grade B) required if not taken at a higher level.

- English Language Requirements

For this degree you will need a minimum score of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.

Our Marketing degree is professionally accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). This leads to direct entry onto the CIMs Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing.

It is also accredited by the Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing, conferring eligibility for our graduates to sit the examinations for the Certificate in Direct and Digital Marketing Principles.
