The program has a specific focus towards important subjects within the context of the maritime industry. Some courses are addressing subjects which are fully maritime business related. Other courses are more generic in character- however still covering topics of special importance for the maritime industry.
The technical program is run in parallel with a similar commercial oriented program. 75% of the courses are given to students of both programs. The specific technical courses are covering issues such as ship structures, marine machinery, electro, automation, telecommunication and building/conversion projects.
As indicated by the title of the program the study is addressed towards candidates aiming towards management types of jobs. To some degree learning of management and leadership skills are addressed as specific topics within the education. However, highest priority is given for the candidates to acquire a broad basis of knowledge and understanding of the important basic subjects as relevant for the maritime industry, within the technical and the commercial specialization respectively.
Priority within the program is also given to assignments and other interactive forums to achieve good training in solving complex problems in close cooperation with others within a multi-disciple environment.
Special attention is given to topics of currently high priority within the maritime industry, in particular related to improvement of safety and environmental performance and renewal of the industry though innovations.
