The MBA programme (full-time and part-time) is an internationally oriented general management programme that provides students from different industries and professions with the expertise to understand the interdisciplinary relationships of a company and to make sustainable strategic decisions using the latest management techniques. The MBA programme can be completed in two different time structures: full-time in 12 months or part-time in 18 months (weekend classes).

The MBA programme aims at qualifying participants to strategically lead companies. The curriculum emphasises management concepts which foster strategic vision, entrepreneurial spirit, operational excellence, and intercultural awareness. Participants learn to identify complex interdependencies and leverage the knowledge of peers for the advantage of the entire company. Due to the global perspective, an understanding of cultural differences and the importance of this understanding for individual and corporate success is developed.

Teamwork is an essential element of our teaching approach. In study groups of five to six, participants discuss current course content and apply concepts and tools in practically oriented projects. Small course sizes ensure an interdisciplinary and communicative learning environment as well as excellent mentoring between professors and students.

Moreover, there is a special focus on leadership and personal development throughout the programme. Enhancing the participants' soft skills is of high significance for us. It is our indisputable goal to create a mindset that features responsibility towards the social and environmental consequences of managerial decisions. With this, the students will be skilled to take over strategic management functions within their organisations.

The programme is taught by senior members of the WHU faculty. During the programme's international module, courses are taught by the faculty of hosting partner universities.

The programme is both FIBAA- and EQUIS-accredited and has also been awarded the prestigious AACSB accreditation.

Educational organisation

Core Modules:
Core management concepts are provided in the first module. Basic management concepts and functions as well as concepts and tools for economic analysis will be introduced.

Concentration Modules:
Whilst the fundamental focus of the programme is on General Management, all participants have the chance to deepen their knowledge of Marketing & Sales, Advanced Finance & Accounting, Strategy & Organisation as well as Operations, Innovation & Entrepreneurship within the scope of the module. In these modules, participants have the opportunity to choose one concentration from the fields offered. The courses in Personal Leadership are mandatory.

International Module:
In the International Module, all participants learn about business opportunities and management challenges in the USA, India, and China. You will study at renowned partner universities in the respective regions. The programme consists of tailor-made lectures delivered by senior faculty members of our partner universities and company visits.

Master's Thesis:
The thesis serves to demonstrate the participant's ability to work independently on a problem by applying research methods. The subject of the thesis will be defined by arrangement with the supervising member of the teaching faculty. We encourage our students to undertake the thesis as part of a company project.

Study abroad unit(s)

We currently cooperate with partner universities in the USA (Kellogg, Chicago), China (CEIBS, Shanghai) and India (IIM, Bangalore). One week at each partner university is mandatory and consists of tailor-made lectures delivered by senior faculty members of our partners and company visits. Dual degree programmes are offered with certain partner universities.

Internships

The Master's thesis gives you the opportunity to apply all that you have learned in a real-life project. We encourage our students to complete their Master's theses as part of a company project (internship).

Forms of assessment

Mostly group work, oral participation, and exams
