Further compulsory modules cover special aspects of Molecular Immunology, Bacteriology, Virology, Human Genetics, Cell Biology, Pharmacology, Oncology and Medicine. The last six months of the Master's programme are dedicated to the preparation of the Master's thesis.

Educational organisation
Throughout the first year (Master's programme), current topics in Molecular Medicine are taught by internationally renowned scientists in a comprehensive lecture series within three modules. Within these modules students carry out three independent research projects (lab rotations) of eight weeks each in participating laboratories, including local research labs of the Max Planck Society (MPI) and the German Primate Center (DPZ). The results of these projects are presented and discussed in seminars.Students who have passed the examinations of the modules of the first year with good or excellent results qualify for direct admission to the three-year doctoral programme Molecular Medicine without being required to complete a Master's thesis first.
