Description
It is designed for writers and broadcasters who want to be at the sharp end of journalism, introducing them to the different approaches necessary for news, features, radio, television and the web.
There is theory in the form of modules on Media Policy and Analysis and Marketing and Management, but the emphasis is very firmly on acquiring tools of the trade including shorthand and the use of sophisticated recording and editing equipment.
The teaching staff are highly experienced journalists and editors, while senior staff from news organisations like the BBC, STV, Newsquest and The Scotsman Publications visit regularly to deliver lectures, advise and mentor.
The BA/BA (Hons) Multimedia Journalism has a unique training agreement with The Herald and Times newspaper group, providing paid shift work experience. There are also overseas exchange opportunities at one of our partner institutions in the USA.
Graduates have embarked on careers with The Herald, Sunday Herald, The Scotsman, Holyrood magazine, Daily Record, BBC and STV, to name but a few.
