The MSc programme of Plastics Engineering deals with the application of scientific and engineering principles to the design and control of all contemporary plastic materials. Gained knowledge enables to be a leading expert in companies dealing with polymer recycling, plastics production development and manufacturing.

Career Opportunities

After graduating this programme students are able to design polymer products and to develop technical and technological specifications. They can design, organise, reorganise, modernise and control technological processes of polymers processing as well as analyse labour and materials costs having abilities to meet production and management challenges.

After graduating this programme students can work as designers, technologists or engineers in the enterprises associated with polymer recycling, plastics production development and manufacturing, maintenance, restoration, logistics, retail and service areas. They can work as researches, experts or inspectors in research and educational institutions, or continue their studies for PhD degree.

The MSc programme is a 2-year programme (4 semesters) equivalent to 120 ECTS credits. The programme is taught in English and incorporates an international dimension in all subjects.

Academic Focus

The Master´s programme in Plastics Engineering is aimed to provide in-depth knowledge about contemporary plastic material (elastomers, reactoplastics, thermoplastics, cellulars, foams, composites, electrically conductive, optically active, smart and intelligent plastics, etc.), products, advanced technology and equipment, methods of scientific research, digital technologies in plastics production, rheology and adhesion of plastics, design and development of plastic products, project management, marketing and economical assessment of innovations.

Programme Contents

Students are provided with advanced studies of contemporary plastic materials and their behaviour, mathematical theory of engineering experiment, physical, mechanical and statistical methods of materials investigation, management, and economics as well as industrial and communicational technologies.

The main study modules are: Mathematical theory of engineering experiment, Physical methods of material investigation, Adhesion science and technology, Technical creation, Rheology of polymers, CAD/CAM systems for plastic products, Marketing management, Product design and development, Special plastics and products, Polymer matrix composites, Research projects, Final degree project.

Programme PrerequisitesA minimum of a three year University bachelor´s degree in in textile/plastics engineering, chemical engineering, material science, or equivalent.Admissions are made on the basis of qualification, references and English language skills.
