What will I study?
This MSc Project Management will focus on developing your competence as a well-rounded project or programme leader alongside the wider leadership and management skills required to succeed in any organisation or sector. Live industry projects play a key role and have involved clients such as Volvo, Airbus, Balfour Beatty, the NHS and Google.
The course content spans a range of highly topical subject areas. This includes: how to assess project feasibility, how to manage risks in projects, how to keep people working together, and how to develop a portfolio of projects. The curriculum is aligned with the academic requirements of the Association for Project Management (APM), which is the UK’s largest professional body for project managers.
This programme is also available as MSc Project Management with Advanced Practice which includes either an internship or a research project.
Minimum of a 2:2 (second class) honours degree from a UK university or equivalent
Other qualifications and relevant professional practice experience will be considered on merit by the Admissions Tutor, but should demonstrate at least 5 years’ full-time experience in a relevant industrial context at a professional level.

Alternatively, you may be eligible to join one of our Pre-Masters programmes. These are specifically designed for students who do not yet meet the entry requirements for our postgraduate degrees and would like to bridge this gap in their qualifications. Upon successful completion of one of our Pre-Masters programmes you will be eligible to join one of our Masters programmes.
Students require IELTS 6.5 (or above) with no single element below 5.5 or equivalent.
If you have IELTS 5.5-6.0, you may be eligible to join our Pre-Sessional English before studying this programme.

Please note that your tuition fees do not include the cost of course books that you may choose to purchase, stationery, printing and photocopying, accommodation, living expenses, travel or any other extracurricular activities. As a Northumbria University London Campus student, you will have full access to our online digital library with over 400,000 e-books and 50,000 electronic journals. The modules you will study do not require you to purchase additional textbooks although we recommend you allow an additional £120 for the duration of your studies should you choose to purchase any additional reading materials.

Careers and further study
This course will open up opportunities in project management roles in many industries. Past Northumbria University graduates have gone on to work for multinational companies such as BAE Systems, Volvo Car Group, NHS, Siemens, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Shell and Virgin Money. Job roles have included project managers, programme managers, project portfolio managers, management consultants, business developers, entrepreneurs, quality managers and directors.
The average UK (median) project management salary, as identified in a 2018 Salary and Market Trends Survey undertaken by the Association for Project Management (APM) is £47,500.
Upon successfully completing your course, you may undertake professional training from one of the UK’s leading corporate training providers, QA, through Professional Pathways. These are offered to our graduates for free and provides an excellent opportunity to develop your practical project management skills and professional accreditation.
