The degree is academically challenging and provides a comprehensive foundation of psychological theory and research from a variety of perspectives and approaches.

Course Content

Years 1 and 2 are structured around the key areas of psychology including biological psychology, social psychology, cognitive psychology, developmental psychology and individual differences. You will also be taught how to conduct psychological research within these key areas, gaining knowledge and experience in research methods and statistical analyses used by psychologists.

In year 2 you will also partake in a work experience module with an external organisation. This will give you valuable experience and skill development to enhance your employability. In the final year you will design and conduct your own research and you will analyse and present your results in a final year project dissertation.

Your final year also includes a range of applied modular options including forensic, clinical and counselling, occupational, health, educational, advanced social psychology, and brain and behaviour.

Access: The Access Diploma in a Science or Health subject to include 30 Level 3 credits at Distinction. Access applicants can meet the GCSE requirements through their current studies and do not need to have these qualifications separately.

Merit Scholarship Scheme

Merit Scholarship scheme: £1,000, in year one only and based on academic performance.

  • Available to all international students applying for full-time undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at Coventry University.
  • Scholarships are allocated on the basis of academic merit. (Postgraduate applicants must hold 2.1 or equivalent, undergraduate applicants must hold A-levels or equivalent at grades BBC)
  • There is no separate scholarship application process: all undergraduate applications from self-funded international students from any non-EU country and postgraduate applications from international, will automatically be considered for a merit award. You will not have to do anything, if you are successful you will be notified in due course by the International Office.
University Research Studentship Scheme
