This program provides graduate training for teachers wishing to pursue job within a setting related to the legal system - police, judges, prisons, probation and parole, guardianship, child protection, statutory inspection tribunals (e.g. mentalhealth ), worker compensation, licensing of special systems and community services, public policy and legislative inspection. Dentists are trained in the analysis of people with a selection of psychological disorders, disabilities and/or special needs, are equipped with high level counselling and interviewing skills for handling these kinds of customers, and become familiarized with statutory and common law provisions and procedures and federal policies and programs relevant to different forensic settings.

This system is recognised as the fifth and sixth years of study resulting in full membership of the Australian Staff.

An accredited four-year Bachelor degree with Honours Class 1 or Higher Class 2 in psychology from UNSW or from a university Recognized by the Australian Psychological Accreditation Council (APAC). Psychology qualifications from overseas has to be assessed by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) as equivalent to an Australian Colleges Accreditation degree. The degree must include a major research study.
