This MA programme offers students the opportunity to take a holistic degree examining social change and resistance using a multidisciplinary approach across Geography and Historical Studies. It focuses upon an examination of social change that is unique in its blend of historical research and method with that of other disciplines. It examines theories and international case studies of social change in detailed material contexts. The course also provides training in the design and implementation of a research programme and qualitative techniques.

* MA: one year full time or two years part time
* Postgraduate Diploma: Nine-months full-time or 18 months part-time

Teaching and assessment methods
Teaching is by a combination of lecture- and seminar-based courses, an optional field-based modules, and individual research. Assessment is through essays, dissertation and project work.

Normally at least an upper second-class honours degree, or its equivalent, in Geography, History, Sociology or cognate disciplines, or the equivalent for overseas or European applicants. Applicants with a lower second class degree will be considered provided satisfactory references are received.
