Social Work

If you're an experienced professional in social work and human services, this level gives you an chance to enrich and extend your professional practice and tackle research in professional or community settings.Areas of analysis include: social work practice, social policy, program assessment, disability, intellectual disability, aging, childhood and family welfare, and emotional wellness. The level has a program of research with supporting coursework in the first year. Through a mix of core and elective subjects, you may acquire wisdom and skills in designing and executing research, literature review methods, critical analysis and writing for publication, in addition to opportunities to employ these skills at clinically-based professional projects. You'll pursue a different and sustained investigation into an investigation issue of one's own design that will culminate in the submission of a thesis for examination of 60,000 words.

The minimum academic requirement for entrance to a Professional Doctorate level at La Trobe is:a four-year level or a Master's level with a weighted average mark in the final year of 65 or above completed within the previous ten years;qualification for enrollment for professional practice in Australia (where applicable);at least 2 years of specialist training.
