Sport Science

The Sport Science Program offers a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Degree and provides a comprehensive coursework and field experience that will educate its students for professions in a broad scope of sports business, exercise and fitness enterprises, and educational institutions. Committed to providing an innovative curriculum which will be continuously updated and upgrated. The Program is differentiated in three optional concentrations:

1. Sport Management
2. Exercise and Fitness
3. Physical Education

• The program will train the students to understand the functional anatomy and biomechanics of the human body.
• The program will introduce to the students the physiological basis for exercise and physical activity in direct application to physical fitness and athletic conditioning.
• The program will facilitate the students to assess health status, conduct fitness testing, and prescribe and administer exercise programs.
• The program will familiarize the students to perform health and wellness programming based upon the ability to assess needs, and to design, implement, and evaluate a project.
• The program will generate the context of recognizing cultural diversity; representations of the human body; learning the impact of social, economic, and political forces; experiencing exercise, sport and allied health settings.
• The program will help the students to formulate an enhancing communication in requiring essay and analytical writing; presenting ideas in career-related setting; counseling listening to, and advising others.
• The program will facilitate the students problem solving skills. Thinking creatively and synthesizing information for integrative solutions.
• The program will introduce the students to criticize information: with internet and web-based technology; with laboratory equipment and instrumentation; and collecting, analyzing and preparing data for presentation.
   

The Admission requirements of Sport Science program are:

1. High School Grade: 70% Minimum
2. ILETS : 5.5
3. SAT = 21
4. GPA in University : 2.00 Minimum
5. Passed 9 credit hours including BIOLOGY 101 (exception regarding BIOL 101  if the GPA is 2.5 and above)

*Please note that if you did NOT pass in SAT & ILETS exams, you need to join the Foundation Program.

Qatar University supports a wide variety of scholarships recipients each academic year in order to attract highly qualified students. While the vast majority of academic scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit and scholarly achievement, Qatar University also provides other scholarships that also consider financial need. All scholarships cover the cost of tuition fees while the benefits of some scholarships may also include one or more of the following benefits: free accommodation in university dormitories, transportation to and from the University, and a yearly airfare ticket to the home country for students who are not residents of Qatar.The student shall pay the due penalties in case he/she drops courses, or withdraw from the semester.

Scholarships contained within this guide includes only first bachelor students and students who transfer from other universities to Qatar University. Non-degree applicants, visiting students and applicants seeking a second bachelor's degree are not eligible for academic scholarships offered by Qatar University.
