For example an RMIT Statistics student you will prepare for a career in statistics and operations research through statistical and mathematical computation and modelling. You'll employ problem-solving and data investigation to industry issues which range from finance and banking to biological and environmental modelling. This past year offers base studies in statistics and mathematics, while second and third year studies involve projects and placements within industry in addition to opportunities for global exchange. Your studies will concentrate on getting and cleaning data; statistical investigation and computing; linear variations and design of experiments; sampling and quality control; statistical inference; multivariate investigation; forecasting and sports statistics. Statisticians are often employed as a member of multi disciplinary teams in a range of businesses and organizations that require decision making based on data.

Graduates are eligible to apply for graduate membership of the Statistical Society of Australia and graduate membership of the Australian Society for Operations Research.

Current Year 12 requirements units 3 and 4-a study score of 20 in one of Mathematical techniques (almost any ) or Specialist Mathematics and a study score of 25 in just about any English (except EAL) or at the very least 30 in English (EAL).
