We deliver this new course in partnership with St Luke´s Hospice for supportive and palliative care professionals. The partnership allows you to benefit from St Luke´s Hospice practical expertise complimented by our research expertise.

The course was developed by a multiprofessional team for a multiprofessional workforce. The learning, teaching and assessment strategies reflect the interprofessional working in supportive and palliative care helping develop more effective teamwork. Various professionals contribute to the teaching.

We offer the course taught, distance learning, or a mixture of both. This gives you the flexibility to learn in the way most suited to your personal circumstances.

St Luke´s Hospice delivers the taught modules and we deliver the distance learning modules through our online learning environment.

You complete a mix of core and option modules. The option modules allow you to tailor your studies to your needs and area of practice, such as a specialist or more generalist palliative care setting.

Study at this level also develops autonomous practice in professionals improving their leadership skills and ability to implement service developments.

Your final project is to complete a dissertation on a topic of your choice, which can be related to your work setting. An academic supervisor and practice-based mentor will support your dissertation.

Accreditation of previous certificated learning

We encourage the awarding of academic credit for previous certificated study that you may have completed in this area. This means you could be exempt from some modules, gaining your award in a shorter time.

Year one - postgraduate certificate core modules

Year two - postgraduate diploma core modules

* working together in supportive and palliative care
* research methods

Year three - MSc

* dissertation

All core modules are available taught and distance learning.

Typically you need a degree or equivalent. If you are accepted on the course, we will send you preparatory tasks and course information at least two months before you begin. Late applicants receive this information as soon as they are accepted unconditionally.
