The profile of the PhD. graduates in Telecommunications has the daily form and the external form. In the first form the content of the study and research is related to the main areas of research, which are followed in STU, namely transmission and coding techniques, switching theory, signal processing and study of protocols and services. The PhD. student in this form has to teach. The profile of the graduates is more academia oriented. The second form allows the PhD. student to have in parallel with the study a regular job. The profile of the PhD is therefore as a rule more application or industry oriented. The holder of PhD. has to generate via his research a new, previously unpublished knowledge in actual and up to date area of Telecommunications. His PhD. thesis has to show that he is able to use advanced research methods, work with literature and other knowledge sources and he is able to explain and present his thoughts in logical and pedagogic manner. The main contributions to the knowledge have to be published before the defense of thesis in well known international conferences and it is welcomed if they are published also in scientific journals or covered by patents. Both profiles include appropriate knowledge of basic theoretical disciplines e.g. mathematics and also informatics tools and programming skills as well as languages and management abilities.
