Dundee is a long established centre of excellence for professional planning education. It is an ideal place to study for a planning qualification as the City of Dundee and its rural surroundings offer excellent case studies of innovative planning practice. The Dundee Central Waterfront Master Plan and the Ardler Regeneration Strategy are two outstanding examples of best practice.
Our staff are engaged in research of national and international importance in the fields of housing and homelessness, urban regeneration, environmental assessment and urban conservation.

Course Content
Level 1
An introduction to Town and Regional Planning. You will find out why planning is necessary, who is involved in the process of land and property development, what is meant by sustainable development, and how to analyse change in the built and natural environments.

Level 2
This not only builds and develops the knowledge and skills introduced in Level 1, but includes new topics such as management, environmental law and social town planning.

Level 3
You gain experience of preparing strategies and plans and applying design criteria to the assessment of development proposals. You also have the chance to compare British planning practice to that of other European countries, not only from books but from first hand experience.

Level 4
You can choose from a range of option modules and prepare a dissertation on a topic that interests you. This allows you to study in depth and develop your own specialism.

Requirements
- Minimum Requirements:
SQA Higher: ABBB
GCE A-Level: BCC
ILC Higher: ABBB
IB Diploma: 30 points with 5, 5, 5 at HL.
-Note:
Advanced entry to MA Town and Regional Planning is not available on the basis of Advanced Highers or A-Levels but a relevant HND with some merits in final year will be considered.
