In between deep fjords and high mountains, you will find the student town of Volda. With its 4000 students and 350 staff/faculty members, Volda University College is the largest institution of higher education between Bergen and Trondheim. Volda is known for its active student environment and the university college is also known for the top study programmes in media and journalism, as well as, long traditions for teacher training. 

Volda is the place you will never forget. Volda University College is situated on the north west coast of Norway, surrounded by spectacular fjords and mountains. The school has approximately 3000 students, 150 academic staff, and about 60 technical and administrative staff. Volda University College has long and proud traditions of higher education dating back to its foundation as a teachers’ training college established in 1895, now expanded to 4 faculties, 5 Master's Programmes, more than 30 undergraduate study programmes, and about 300 study courses offered. Today Volda University College offers study programmes and courses in a wide variety of academic fields, administered by the Faculty of Humanities and Education, the Faculty of Social Sciences & History, the Faculty of Art and Physical Education and the Faculty of Media & Journalism. Volda University College is widely renowned for its outstanding academic studies in animation, broadcast journalism and documentary film production.

Exchange students apply to Volda University College (VUC) through the International Office at their home university. There must be a bilateral or similar cooperation agreement involving VUC and the home university in order for one to apply as an exchange student. VUC accepts exchange students within the frameworks of Erasmus+ and EEA-agreements, bilateral agreements and Nordplus networks. 

A complete application must include the documents listed bellow. Please note that not all the courses require motivation letters, CVs or portfolios. To find out if you must submit any of these specific documents, read carefully the course descriptions.

Volda, home to Volda University College, is a municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is part of the Sunnmøre region. Volda's main geographical feature are two fjords, Austefjorden and Dalsfjorden. It is also mountainous, particularly south of these two fjords. 

There are several student residences in Volda, all within walking distance to the campus and service facilities. Each student residence offers furnished individual rooms with a telephone, cable TV access and free Internet access. 1-3 share the bathroom, 2-7 share the kitchen facilities. Hot meals and snacks can also be purchased on campus.
