This programme is designed to fill the increasing industrial need for graduates who have a combination of science, engineering and materials skills. The programme meets the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications at Masters level in engineering.

You are provided with advanced knowledge and understanding of:

* the properties, safe usage and operation of engineering materials
* mathematics and engineering science
* IT and software packages
* management principles and business practices;

Upon graduation, you will be able to:

* apply mathematical methods and principles of materials science to modelling
* use scientific principles to model the synthesis, processing and product development in materials
* understand the limitations of materials, IT and modelling procedures
* generate ideas aimed at designing materials for new and possibly unconventional product applications

A lower-second-class Honours Degree, or international equivalent, in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics or chemistry.Applicants whose first language is not English require IELTS 6.5, Pearson's PTE Academic Test 62 or equivalent.International applicants require an ATAS (Academic Technology Approval Scheme) clearance certificate prior to obtaining their visa and to study on this programme. English Language Requirements IELTS band: 6.5 IMPORTANT NOTE: Since April 2014 the ETS tests (including TOEFL and TOEIC) are no longer accepted for Tier 4 visa applications to the United Kingdom. The university might still accept these tests to admit you to the university, but if you require a Tier 4 visa to enter the UK and begin your degree programme, these tests will not be sufficient to obtain your Visa.
