Chemical Technology

Technological innovation is a driver of our sustainable economic growth and the key to enhance competitiveness of our industry. Chemistry is a branch of science that studies the composition, properties and reactivities of matters at the atomic and molecular level. With the skills and techniques to manipulate molecular structure and properties, chemists are at the center of many inventions and products (e.g. new pharmaceuticals) that bring genuine societal benefits to better quality of life. While Hong Kong is developing toward a knowledge-based economy, a sound understanding of chemical sciences should prepare our graduates to become competent executivesin public or private corporations. In addition, our graduates will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to learn new technologies and inventions.This 4-year programme is to provide a full-time, broad-based course of study in the principles of chemistry and their practical application at the honours degree level. This programme prepares students to become competent chemistry professionals in the chemicals and related industries in Hong Kong and neighbouring regions, whether engaged in trading or manufacturing. At the same time, students will be trained to be independent and creative researchers.

Requirements

• Application fee HK$450
• GCE A-level / International A-level
• International Baccalaureate (IB)
• A minimum score of 24 with at least grade 4 in 2 Higher Level subjects
• A Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 80 for the Internet-based test or 550 for the paper-based test;
  OR
• An overall Band Score of 6 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
• Applicants attaining good results in science subjects (biology, chemistry and/or physics) are preferred.
