Course Content
The adult nursing programme prepares you to care for adults within the National Health Service and the independent sector. Adult nursing is just as much about promoting wellness and health as it is about responding to poor health and illness.
Adult nurses care for all those over the age of sixteen years who have a physical health problem.
Nurses work, as part of a multidisciplinary team, in a wide variety of settings - within hospitals providing care for acutely ill patients and those with long term continuing care needs, within the community and in nursing homes within the independent sector, providing long term care.
The nursing curriculum is currently under review, and is due to be approved during 2011.
Practice placements are provided in Tayside and Fife and students are allocated the majority of their placements in the vicinity of their term-time address.
It will be necessary for some clinical experience to be gained in placements further afield in order to provide students with exposure to a rich and diverse clinical experience.
