Description
This programme will prepare you for a wide variety of careers in the animal conservation and ecological industries.
The programme explores theoretical and practical aspects of animal conservation and biodiversity in the UK and abroad. You will also examine practical conservation management in detail.
In your final year, you will complete a dissertation on a conservation and biodiversity theme of your own choice.
Throughout the programme there will be opportunities to see a variety of different management practices through a range of field trips. Past trips have included a study tour at Jersey Zoo, whale watching in Tenerife, and conservation trips to South Africa, Zambia and Costa Rica.
The aims of the programme are:
- To provide you with a thorough grounding in animal conservation and biodiversity
- To enable you to analyse strategies for conserving habitats across the world
- To be able to apply principles of conservation, animal ecology and wildlife management.

Requirements
Applicants should have:
240 UCAS points
FROM A-levels, preferably one in a science based subject
OR a Level 3 vocational qualification
PLUS all applicants should also have a GCSE grade C or above in English, mathematics and science.
Life experiences are taken into account when considering applications.
Applications from mature students are welcome.
Students have access to over 120 species, paddocks with grazing animals and specialist rooms for aquatics, reptiles, invertebrates and small mammals. In addition, we have exotic bird aviaries, a veterinary examination room and a new short-clawed Asian otter enclosure.
