UNB Saint John offers the introductory year(s) of the UNB Engineering programs. As part of the UNB family, you will transfer easily to UNB Fredericton to complete your program for a total of four years of full-time study. You can choose to take part in the Co-op program (organized by academic term) or the Professional Experience Program (organized for the length of an engineering project). Participation may add time to your degree, but will definitely add experience and perspective.Civil engineers plan and manage the construction and operation of buildings and other public and private works. Civil engineers design and build highways, airports, canals, bridges, industrial plants, water and sewage treatment systems,hydroelectric developments and irrigation systems. Areas of specialization are: structural, geotechnical, regional and municipal planning, transportation, construction and construction materials, sanitary and environmental and hydro electrical engineering. Many civil engineers find career opportunities in environmental management areas very rewarding.
