This four-year programme offers the opportunity to develop expertise in two ancient languages simultaneously, focusing on the study of Ancient Greek and Latin language and literature. The curriculum is the same as that of the Classics BA, with an additional opportunity to spend year three at an approved university abroad.

In each year of your degree you will take a number of individual modules, normally valued at 0.5 or 1.0 credits, adding up to a total of 4.0 credits for the year. Modules are assessed in the academic year in which they are taken. The balance of compulsory and optional modules varies from programme to programme and year to year. A 1.0 credit is considered equivalent to 15 credits in the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).

The main emphasis of the programme is on the study of Latin and Greek texts in the original language. The programme design is the same as for the Classics BA except that the degree includes an additional year, the third year, spent at an approved university in Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Spain or Switzerland. This offers you the chance to expand your knowledge and experience within your chosen academic field, as well as learning new skills and enjoying the culture of another country. You will take 16.0 credits spread equally across the four years.

The programme also allows you to take modules from outside the Classical World area, for example in medieval or modern history, history of science or computing (a maximum of 1.0 credit in the first and the second year, and 2.0 credits in the fourth).
