The primary goal of the M.Sc. programme is to equip graduate students with an integrated set of skills that will allow them to develop their professional careers in this area of information technology. The particular focus of the programme is to equip students with the theoretical and practical background that is necessary to enable them to participate in the design of complex networked and distributed systems.

The programme not only presents the state of the art in the design and implementation of networks and distributed systems but also prepares students to embrace future developments in the field. Specific emphasis is placed on the presentation and assimilation of challenging and stimulating material that has a demonstrated professional relevance.

The focus of the programme is on skills that are not normally imparted to students during their undergraduate years and that will develop graduates' capacity as leaders in the field. Thus, the programme is intended to prepare graduates to pursue careers in industry, as software architects and project managers, to establish their own consulting or software development companies, or to undertake basic research in the field.

The M.Sc. programme (90 ECTS credits) is full-time and runs over a one-year period commencing in October of each year. The programme is assessed based on a combination of assigned coursework, written examination, and a dissertation. Approximately 20 students are admitted to this course annually.

The programme is composed of six modules that are taken by all students (10 ECTS credits each), plus a research dissertation (30 ECTS credits).
