The Bachelor of Computer Science (Professional) includes a mandatory 12-month paid work placement. You'll gain from Swinburne's unique industry partnerships, gain invaluable fulltime job experience and earn credit towards your degree. The class focuses on developing expertise in software development and computer science. Students receive extensive education in contemporary methods to the research, design and implementation of largescale systems, together with a sound understanding of the conventional areas of computer science like hardware and operating techniques. This course pays special attention to the individual factors involved with the development, setup and use of systems that are septic. Students will develop skills in a selection of contemporary approaches to software development, programming languages, development environments, and software development programs.

Accredited with the Australian Computer Society (ACS) at the professional level.

  • Year 12 or equivalent
  • VCE Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4: a minimum study score of 25 in English (or equivalent) or 30 at English (EAL)
  • And Units 1 and 2: satisfactory completion in two units (any analysis combination) of any Mathematics. English language requirements - satisfactory completion of a few of these following: Swinburne's English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 advanced level level) with overall 70%, all skills 65%
  • Minimum IELTS overall band of 6.5 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 6.0
  • TOEFL iBT (internet-based) minimum score of 79 with a studying band a minimum of 18 and writing band a minimum of 20
  • Pearson (PTE) minimum score of 5 8 (no communicative skills less than 50)
  • every equal examination of English language competence. Note: A requirement for many classes, the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) can currently be done on campus at Hawthorn.
