ECE offers master's and PhD programs in electrical and computer engineering. PhD degrees are research-based and master's are project-based.The UA's Interdisciplinary Programs unite researchers and students from diverse disciplines and provide a number of cross-disciplinary research and training opportunities for ECE grad students. At the UA department of electrical and computer engineering, world-renowned professors -- 31 tenured/tenure track, 11 professional fellows, a UA Regents' Professor and a University Distinguished Professor -- conduct research that fuels Arizona’s leadership in technology and addresses the nation’s grand challenges for engineering. Faculty provide outstanding mentorship for students who wish to increase their knowledge, open doors, and help craft the future.

The Online Master's Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering is a fully online degree offered through the ECE Department and the Outreach College of The University of Arizona. The degree program provides a strong academic foundation in the principles of Electrical and Computer Engineering and is designed as a continuing educational mechanism to meet the working professional's schedule needs. ECE offers a steadfast commitment to solving society's grand challenges which puts ECE at the forefront of technological advancement. Consistently ranked among the top 40 electrical and computer engineering departments by U.S. News & World Report, The University of Arizona Electrical and Computer Engineering Department has for more than a century provided excellence in teaching and research. The department's academic programs and collaborative research projects are critical to Arizona's position as a leading center for high-technology industry and to meeting the nation's need for the development and application of electronic and computer-based technology. ECE Department focus areas include: Autonomic Robotic Space Exploration; Biomedical Technologies; Coding and Compression; High-Performance Computing; Optical Imaging Systems and Signal and Image Processing; Microwave to Optical Metamaterials; Simulation Modeling and Heterogeneous Systems Design; Wireless Communications and Networks. The degree program requires 30 units of study.

Before students can take any courses for credit, students must first be admitted to the University of Arizona as a degree or non-degree student. Students who are not admitted to the University of Arizona can apply as a Non-Degree Seeking student, either as an Undergraduate or Graduate student. Graduate students can apply online as a Non-Degree Seeking student. Undergraduates can download a paper Non-Degree application. Please mail the Undergraduate Non-Degree application and check payment to UA Outreach College instead of Undergraduate Admissions to expedite your admission process.Before you can register for UA Outreach College courses, you must be eligible for admission as a degree-seeking or non-degree student graduate student at the University of Arizona. Almost all engineering graduate students are supported by teaching or research assistantships that pay tuition plus a stipend:

NSF Graduate Research Fellowships: Highly competitive three-year fellowships up to $120,000 for STEM

National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowships: $93,000 over three years, plus all tuition and fees

GEM Fellowship Program: $16,000 a year plus additional stipends and tuition (for underrepresented minority students)

Science Foundation Arizona: One-year, with optional second, supplemental $25,000 stipends
