To provide the knowledge and skills required of a professional engineer to design embedded systems for use in control, diagnostics, monitoring and communications. State-of-the-art techniques in control system design, signal processing and software design will be core elements of the course.
Teaching and assessment methods
Modules are taught using lectures and seminar sessions and are supported by a range of structured practical and laboratory work. Performance in modules is assessed by means of open and closed examination papers and a range of continuously assessed work. All MSc students are required to produce a dissertation including the results obtained in the individual project module.
Duration and mode of study
The course can be taken full or part-time. The full-time MSc lasts one year or the Postgraduate Diploma nine months. Part-time the courses can be taken over a period of up to four years.
