The Bachelor of Engineering in Engineering Management at Biberach University of Applied Sciences is a comprehensive and interdisciplinary program designed to prepare students for leadership roles in the engineering and industrial sectors. Educational organisation

The programme comprises 90 ECTS credits and finishes with the academic degree Master of Engineering (MEng), awarded by the University of Biberach.
The University of Tucumán awards the academic degree Magister en Proyectos de Ingeniería (Mag Ing).

The curriculum of the Master's programme Engineering Management is structured into
  • compulsory modules in the field of business management, law, project management, and soft skills with 43 credits,
  • out of a range of eight different elective modules in the area of applied engineering, the students choose 12 credits,
  • a seminar in the field of building or infrastructure engineering with seven credits and
  • the Master's thesis including the public colloquium with 28 credits in the third semester.

Study abroad unit(s)

According to the curriculum of the Master's programme, one semester is conducted in Argentina (August-December) and one semester is conducted in Germany (March-July). The Master's thesis can be done at the German or at the Argentine university.

Forms of assessment

The exams will be done by written and oral exams, evaluated study works and the Master's thesis.

Course objectives

Through the Master's programme, students will mainly obtain the following competencies:
  • Expertise covering wide areas in the coordination of projects in the general sense including organisational, legal, and business expertise for the project management of large projects
  • Methodological competence in project organisation, development, and execution of projects
  • Social skills in management and in dealing with internal and external stakeholders
  • Personal competence in the sense of developing awareness and by solving skills through overtaking process and product responsibility

The Master's degree Engineering Management provides engineers with specialised knowledge in project management. It offers management knowledge and links this with basic technical understanding and intercultural competence. Another main focus is the training concept for the adoption of trade and management duties. Students can set certain priorities and customise their personal career planning by several electives. The third semester is dedicated to the completion of the Master's thesis, which can be written in Biberach or in Tucumán. The public presentation of the Master's thesis takes place with the participation of professors of both universities.
The programme - developed in close cooperation with companies - aims beyond a reasonable symbiosis between scientific standards and practical study design. This is achieved through the integration of experienced professional lecturers and guest lecturers. The majority of the Master's theses are directly related to actual topics in the industry, and the research activities are mainly carried out in cooperation with various companies.

For admission to the Master's programme, students must have at least the level B1 in German, English, and Spanish.

Enrolment fees

There are no fees for foreign students at the Argentine university. At the German university, fees in the amount of about 85 EUR per student must be paid. In these fees, all charges of the university as well as the use of public transport are included.

Costs of living

Approx. 700 EUR per month to cover personal expenses in Biberach
Approx. 10,000 ARS per month to cover personal expenses in Tucumán.
Scholarships to cover travel and living costs are available from the DAHZ .

Job opportunities

Students have the opportunity to work during the semester from Monday to Wednesday, as the lectures take place from Thursday to Saturday.
The majority of the Master's theses are carried out in cooperation with various companies. Each student typically receives appropriate financial compensation from the company upon completion of the thesis.

Funding opportunities within the university

Scholarships from the German-Argentine University Centre are available for the Master's students:
  • Monthly subsidy of 800 EUR for the period at the foreign university
  • Travel allowance of 1,500 EUR
  • Insurance subsidy of 100 EUR per month abroad

Arrival support

The students are picked up at the airport or railway station by a mentor of the university. The mentor supports the student during the first weeks regarding visa and other paperwork like insurance.

Services and support for international students

Foreign students take part in a language and intercultural training course within the first week of the programme.

Accommodation

The International Office of Biberach University offers help with the search for a furnished room in the hall of residence or in a shared apartment.
Foreign students are responsible for finding accommodation and renting in Tucumán. However, they are supported by the professors responsible for their stay.
