This class gives a wide perspective of fashion knowledge allowing students to find employment in a variety of positions in the fashion business, both locally and internationally. Focusing on engineering and design, students develop creative and technical skills with working closely with the fashion business, blending theory with practice through industry-driven design projects. Students learn the idea of, and techniques in, design concept creation, pattern-making and garment structure, including specifications and technical development, Computer Aided Design and manufacturing, logistics, technology and also an understanding of the global industry. The practical nature of the class and intimate contact with industry, for example undertaking work placements, gives students the expertise needed to succeed in the global fashion market.

This course is recognised by the Council of Textile & Fashion and the Design Institute of Australia (DIA).

Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or 20 in English other than EAL
