The Masters Program Finance, Accounting, and Taxes is designed for students who wish to further enhance their education in each of these lines of business administration and to study potential interrelations.

Students acquire a profound and wide-ranging knowledge of modern theories and advanced methods material to the fields of finance, accounting, and taxes, thus rendering them capable of anticipating and analyzing corresponding effects of corporate decisions. Furthermore, they are introduced to the latest scientific developments and are given the opportunity to personalize their studies by specializing in their field of interest. Broadening the students academic qualification, the syllabus can feature additional topics focusing on quantitative, legal, and monetary issues.

Educational organisation

The Masters Program Finance, Accounting, and Taxes is a two-year program (4 semesters) that requires at least 120 points of credit en total. Three semesters are reserved for lectures, seminars, and tutorials (90 credits). The fourth semester is designated for the Masters thesis (30 credits). The Masters thesis is scheduled for completion within 20 weeks and has to be presented in the course of a research colloquium.

During the three semesters of teaching, students are expected to complete (1) three mandatory core courses providing the program participants with a strong foundation in the principles and practices of finance, accounting, and taxes respectively (24 credits), (2) a project seminar equipping the program participants with inter-disciplinary theoretical and methodical expertise to form a sound basis for corporate decision-making (8 credits), (3) electives in finance, accounting and taxes for specializing in selected fields of interest (40 credits), and (4) electives in economics, commercial law, and statistics helping program participants connect to related fields of business (18 credits).

Traditionally, the areas covered by the Master's Programme in Finance, Accounting, and Taxes are among those most frequently desired by business graduates. Moreover, they offer excellent entry opportunities for graduates with exceptional degrees who seek challenging and rewarding careers in consulting and auditing companies, financial institutions, strategy, and policy units of large corporations, management bodies of small and mid-size entities, and public authorities and organizations. In addition, entrepreneurial candidates have the opportunity to start their own business.

Proof of relevance of previous studies:A minimum of six semesters of study culminating in a Bachelors degree or an equivalent course of study with a minimum of 180 ECTS credits in the subject of business or a closely related subject. Applicants must have completed at least 150 of the 180 ECTS credits at the time of application. Unfortunately, we cannot consider applications that do not meet this requirement.Completed 60 ECTS credits and course work in Business Administration, Economics, and Law; including 30 ECTS credits in Finance, Managerial Accounting, External Accounting/ Auditing, and Corporate Taxation.A minimum of 12 ECTS credits completed in Mathematics, Statistics, or Econometrics.Requirements:Bachelors degree or equivalent degree with at least a 3.0 (in the German grading system) Note: If you have not completed your degree at the time of application, the current average score will be calculated. In order to do this, you must provide evidence that you have completed at least 150 ECTS at the time of application.As part of fulfilling the minimum of 30 ECTS course requirements in Finance, Managerial Accounting, External Accounting/ Auditing and Taxes (see above "Proof of relevance"):A minimum of 18 ECTS must be completed in either Capital Market Theory, Financial Management, Capital Market Oriented Accounting and Business Taxation A minimum of 18 ECTS from the modules must be from coursework that is of intermediate or advanced levelsNote: For courses to be considered intermediate or advanced, the course content must clearly go beyond introductory or basic concepts. Determining the relevance and suitability of previous studies for the Master's degree programme in Finance, Accounting, and Taxes will be based on the documents enclosed in the application (see: "Required application documents" on the previous website). If German is not your native language, you will need to submit proof of your German language skills (for a list of accepted documents, see: "Required application documents" on the previous website). The selection process is a two-stage process. The initial selection round will evaluate candidates based on their written application. The second round will evaluate candidates based on personal interviews.
