Food Systems and Gastronomy

As humanity approaches eight billion having more than half of people living in cities, the question of how you can feed well in the face of converging crises has never been greater. The need for qualified and competent professionals using interdisciplinary perspectives and approaches will probably be acutely felt in the next few years. At Australia's sole Master of Food Systems and Gastronomy, students explore the wicked issues facing contemporary food cultures and systems. Subjects are made to develop individual and collaborative problem solving skills and develop students' abilities in interdisciplinary thinking. Students will refine their critical search and analytic skills while they examine changing gastronomic narratives and their junction with people disagreements regarding the politics, ethics, cultures and ecologies of food system change. They will also exercise their capacity to participate effectively in public disagreements surrounding food systems and gastronomy. Supporters of the Master of Food Systems and Gastronomy will be recognized as innovative and professional agents of change from the communities of training in which they operate.
