Geography is an integrative science that explores the earth as a whole system through study of the earthпПХs physical environment, its resources and the human activities that occur on its surface. Geography seeks to understand and explain interactions between the land and its people, measure the impact of one on the other, and devise a system that will ensure a sustainable coexistence for both the environment and its inhabitants. The Geography program at the University of Calgary aims to develop the studentпПХs ability to think critically and logically about the influence of place and spatial relationships in human activities, human-environment interactions, and in physical processes on or near the surface of the earth. This program is also available as a Bachelor of Science. The Honours degree program is suitable for those students who intend to go on to graduate studies in Geography or a closely-related field.
