Intercultural Communication: German-Russian Dialogue at Saint Petersburg State University is a specialized MA program designed to foster cross-cultural understanding and effective communication between German and Russian societies. This interdisciplinary program combines methods from linguistics, cultural studies, international relations, and communication sciences to prepare students for professional careers in international organizations, diplomatic missions, cultural institutions, and multinational corporations. Throughout the course, students will explore the historical, social, and political contexts that shape German-Russian relations, gaining insight into the dynamics of intercultural dialogue and conflict resolution. The program emphasizes language proficiency in both German and Russian, alongside practical skills in intercultural competence, negotiation, and mediation. Students will participate in seminars, workshops, and real-world projects that enhance their ability to operate effectively in multicultural environments. The curriculum includes modules on intercultural theories, intercultural communication skills, comparative cultural analysis, and diplomatic history, supplemented by internships and opportunities for academic exchange with partner universities in Germany and Russia. Graduates of this program will be equipped to work in diplomatic services, international NGOs, cultural exchange organizations, and academic research fields related to German-Russian relations. Applicants have to pass the written examination.
Foreign applicants on government-funded basis should
also submit a copy of the medical certificate on absence of
contraindication against studying and a copy of the medical
certificate on the absence of the H IV virus and AIDS
