Description
Studying a degree in interior design will give you both an understanding of the aesthetics of spacial design relating to scale, colour, light and texture but also provide you with a greater understanding of the theoretical tools that will enhance your ability to critically reflect on design practice.
With entry at HND level, you will already be familiar with the impact well-designed interiors can have on mood, productivity and creativity.
Entry to the degree is based on skills and aptitude demonstrated in sketch books, free hand drawing techniques, design development, understanding of orthographic drawing, computer-aided design and creativity. Students wishing to be considered for this programme should show artistic flair combined with good organisational skills and the ability to work with a team.
This programme provides the opportunity to develop your learning journey to meet the demands made on professional interior designers.
There is a strong emphasis on the development of creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with much of the programme taught in design studios, IT labs, lecture and seminar rooms at the Metropolitan College campus in Florence Street, Glasgow.
Interior designers are in demand in many sectors within the industry including residential, workplaces, temporary exhibition design, commercial, leisure, hospitality and education.
