The Bachelor of Laws / Bachelor of Business offers students a class dedicated to commercial law with emphasis on intellectual property law. As the sole dual degree in Victoria for this specialisation, students learn about logos, patents and designs, copyright, and that the prohibition of misleading or deceptive behaviour and competition law. The class teaches students to become entrepreneurial leaders and supplies them with the skills and knowledge required to business management and operations. Students complete law-related expert experience placements at businesses in Australia or overseas. Students are introduced to the technical areas of legal training during moot court scenarios along with advocacy exercises. The mixture of levels frees students with the capability to work at general and commercial legal clinic, within direction, and as educators.

The Bachelor of Laws Suits the academic requirements for admission to practice as an Attorney in the Victorian and Australian Federal legal systems as set by the Victorian Legal Admissions Board. Please be informed that non-academic requirements also have to be satisfied for admission to practice and that no law degree enables graduates to practise straight a way. Graduates with an Accounting Major may be eligible to apply for membership of CPA Australia (CPAA), Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) or the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA).

  • Year 12 or equivalent
  • VCE prerequisites: Units 3 and 4: a minimum study score of 25 in English (or equivalent) or even 30 in English (EAL). Completion or partial completion of a qualification. Added performance criteria and requirement requirements can also apply. English language requirements - satisfactory completion of a few of these following: Swinburne's English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 advanced level level) with overall 70 percent, each of skills 65%
  • Minimum IELTS overall band of 6.5 (Academic Module) with no single band below 6.0
  • TOEFL iBT (web-based ) minimum score of 7-9 with a studying band a minimum of 18 and writing band a minimum of 20
  • Pearson (PTE) minimum score of 58 (no real skills less than 50)
  • every equal assessment of English language proficiency. Notice: A prerequisite for most courses, the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) can now be done online campus at Hawthorn.
