The Bachelor of Laws / Bachelor of Business Information Systems offers students a course focused on commercial law with emphasis on intellectual property law. As the only dual degree in Victoria with this specialisation, students learn about trademarks, patents and designs, copyright, the prohibition of misleading or deceptive behavior and law. The class teaches students to be entrepreneurial leaders and supplies them with the skills and knowledge required to business operations and management. Students complete law-related professional experience placements at organisations in Australia or overseas. Students are introduced into the practical aspects of legal training throughout moot court scenarios along with advocacy exercises.

The Bachelor of Laws Fulfills the academic requirements for Entry to practice as a lawyer in the Australian and Victorian Federal legal systems as set by the Victorian Legal Admissions Board. Please be informed that non-academic requirements also have to be suited to entry to practice and that no law degree allows graduates to practise direct away. The Bachelor of Business Information Systems has been licensed by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) at specialist level.

Completion or partial completion of a degree. Components 4 and 3: the absolute minimum study score of 25 in English (or equivalent) or 30 in English (EAL). Further performance criteria and requirement requirements can also apply. VCE Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in any Communication. English language requirements - satisfactory completion of one of these following: Swinburne's English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 higher level) with overall 70%, all of skills 65%
  • Minimum IELTS overall band of 6.5 (Academic Module) with no single band below 6.0
  • TOEFL iBT (web-based ) minimum score of 7-9 with a studying ring at least 18 and writing ring at least 20
  • Pearson (PTE) minimum score of 58 (no communicative skills less than 50)
  • every equal assessment of English language competence. Notice: A prerequisite for most courses, the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) can currently be done online campus at Hawthorn.
